Volunteers needed for the Ontario Health Study! 5,024 Ontarians have joined so
far. WILL YOU?
The Ontario Health Study is a 20-year research project being undertaken by
Cancer Care Ontario that began in the Spring of 2009. It is funded by the
Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for the purpose of identifying common
factors of chronic diseases among Ontarians - including cancer, stroke,
diabetes, glaucoma and osteoporosis, with a goal of learning more about the
causes of chronic diseases and how to prevent them. There are currently 3 pilot
project assessment centre locations in Ontario - in Mississauga, Owen Sound and
Sudbury. The group is recruiting residents to look at their health status,
family medical histories, work, community and living environment. This
not-for-profit Study is one of several across the country that are following
300,000 Canadians for the next 20 years. Please help get the word out and
encourage as many people as possible to participate in the Study. Who can
participate? You can participate if you are a resident of Ontario between the
ages of 35 and 69. You can also participate even if you don’t consider yourself
to be in good health. Additional information can be found at
www.ontariohealthstudy.ca by going to the ‘Your Visit’ tab and clicking on
